{birthday girl}

I went to one of the local scrapbook stores last week and was going to pick up some of Echo Park's new 'Little Girl' line. I was picking out papers one by one, until I saw the pack with everything in it -- papers, letters, embellishments.....glad I went with that one ;)

Although see that yellow heart patterned paper? I would like to have about 10 more sheets of that...so I might go back and get some.

Here are my favorite 'this moment' tags from Elle's Studio. Love them!

Here's another journaling card from Elle's - Owl Love you forever note tags. The colors went perfectly with these patterned papers!

Such a bright fun layout. Adam was critiquing my scrapbooking last week....apparently as he was perusing my Two Peas gallery he thought the bright colored layouts were much more attractive.... haha ;)

{designer spotlight week}

Every day this week at the Elle's Studio blog, a different design team member will be spotlighted! So don't forget to check it out. We'll also be sharing photos of our Valentine projects.

Also, as a way to celebrate Designer Week and say thank you, all orders placed at Elle's shop from Saturday, January 29th – February 7th, will receive a free gift – No coupon code needed!

So get ready to be inspired and shop away! :)

Currently I am loving these tags -- The Moment circle tags. Get yourself about three packs, you'll love them too. :) I'll share the rest of this layout tonight.

Happy Monday!

{be my valentine}

I thought I would go ahead and share the projects I made with Michelle's valentine kit. First up is a card done with the heart doily and crepe paper trim. I added some of my own patterned paper for the base, as well as a button and punched sentiment.

Here's the card and tag together.

Here's the cute little gift sack I made by adding one of my own tags and resin flower. The yo-yo is too cute!

Thanks for coming by again today, have a great Saturday night! Adam and I are planning on a movie night....from the comfort of our couch :)

{vintage love}

I have some new things in my Etsy shop...

A few cards, tags and kits. Click here or on the right side of my blog to visit my shop.  I'm working on a few other kits that will be going up this weekend too. Some bright, fun, girly ones! Stay tuned.

{kit love}

Tonight I'm in my scraproom because it's Friday (yay!), Keira's in bed, and I'll probably stay up a little later because we don't have to get up in the morning. I'm working on putting together a few kits with some pretty papers and things I have lying around..that may show up in my Etsy store later.

I was inspired by the Valentine kit I bought from Michelle last week. Here's a little peek of one of the projects I did with it. I'll photograph the other tomorrow and send it off to her to show on her blog. It was such a nice change to work with just a small assortment of perfectly coordinated bits, adding a few of my own papers and stamps.

I haven't had great success with Etsy in the past, but I didn't ever list a whole lot either. I may give it another go. Add that to my never ending to-do list. ;)

Have a great weekend, I have some very important plans to do a whole lot of nothing! Just the way I like it.

{testing...}

Apparently it is possible to run out of space on Blogger for posting photos.....who knew? But considering I've had this blog since 2007 and I just ran out of space, that's a pretty good deal I would say. So I bought some more storage and here I am....happily able to post 20 gigs of photos per year. Hehe.

And as you can see, Keira happily tested the peanut butter cookie dough that she 'helped' me make this weekend. ;) I love that she's getting old enough to where she can understand instructions....sometimes I will have her stand at the stove with me (while it's off of course) and she will put potato cubes or carrot sticks into a pot of water. She loves it. I love the smile she gets on her face after I praise her with, "Good job! Thank you!". It's so cute.

I am conscious that I am  instilling a sense of confidence in her...even at this young age. And she is such an eager little helper, sometimes helping me put clean washcloths and towels in a drawer, or throwing away paper towels and scraps of paper for me. Obviously this helpfulness will elude me at some point, so I'm trying to appreciate it while I can :)

Even if there's a little mess to be made. In this case it was cookie dough all over the face, hands, pants, shirt, chair and floor. Nothing a little Tide and Pine-Sol won't take care of though :)

Keira and I were knocked out cold yesterday by a little stomach flu, but everything seems to be much better today and we're on the mend. Stay tuned next week for 'Meet our design team week' at Elle's Studio -- I'll be sharing photos of my scraproom, as well as my Valentine project. Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with too!

I also got in on this fun little Valentine project going on at Michelle's blog.....so watch for my creation there as well :)

{elle's studio inspiration gallery}

January's gallery is finally live! Head over there to take a look. All the ladies have done an amazing job. Here are my projects. First up is a Valentine I made with the new 'Owl Love You Forever' line.

I used the new 8"x8" paper, as well as a note tag that I die cut with a heart shape to make a little window. The owl is cut from the new 8"x8" paper as well as the polka dotted paper in the background.

The next project I've done is a layout about Keira's phone obsession :)

In the top left corner of the layout, I diecut a butterfly from some of the lined paper, then finished off with a little stamped word handcut from the XOXO Journaling Tag stamp set. I think everyone needs this set! It's so cute. I also used a details tiny tag for my journaling.

As you can see in this close up, I've used some more of the striped 8x8 paper, as well as the polka dots, hearts, and lined paper. They coordinate so well together! I've also used some of the Sweet Stitches Note Tags that I cut the centers out of with my X-Acto knife. I then layed them over the patterned paper popped up on foam tape. Your own frame embellishments!

Last up is a Valentine layout using pictures from last year.

As you can see, I've used numbers 1-10 from the Valentine Vintage Number tags.....I just love these number tags. I used the regular ones for my December Daily last month too. I also diecut a heart from the cute pink hearts paper.

Thanks for stopping by today! I am excited to share my next Elle's Studio project with you in the coming weeks....it's a cute Valentine ensemble that even a beginner crafter can do, thanks to Elle's wonderful tags :)

I had better get a move on, as groceries need to be shopped for and tomorrow is Monday. Have a great week.

{sneak peek}

I  have been busily working on my samples for the Elle's Studio inspiration gallery reveal! It happens this Saturday, so I'm giving you a few sneaks today :)

I'm excited to see everyone else's work as well! These new products were really fun to work with. In fact they were so fun that I couldn't stop scrapping and am already working on next month's projects ;)

Have a great night. Tomorrow's Friday and I couldn't be more glad!

{a book recommendation}

In honor of MLK Jr. day today, I would like to recommend The Help, by Kathryn Stockett. It is an excellent story set in Mississippi in the 1960's that depicts the real lives of African Americans and the segregation that was still present at that time. It's both a jaw dropper and a page turner and I highly recommend it.

{oh doggie.}

Before Keira could say Hunter...she called him doggie. And still does occasionally. I love that they get along so well, save the intermittent tail pulling and body slamming :) I hope he's around for many more years for her to enjoy.

I used some older Making Memories chipboard letters for the title, as well as an October Afternoon tin pin.

The vintage image is by Crafty Secrets, that I cut out with a Spellbinders heart die. I stamped a journaling block with an Elle's Studio clear stamp (love this stamp - as well as all the little words that come with!) on patterned paper and cut it out. Also used a paper blossom by The Girls Paperie as well as a little Maya Road flower.

Banner sticker is by Sassafras (Indie Girl line), also got to use my new Martha butterfly punch. I've been looking for this one for a long time...it's a hard find at Michaels!

(edited to add the full picture of the page -- somehow forgot it in the original post! oops!)

Thanks for stopping by. I do have a few projects that I can't yet share....ones for the Elle's Studio inspiration gallery reveal next week! More details later. Have a great week :)

{it's a baby!!}

Oh yes, it's a baby. Keira says this at least once a day...and most days she says it over and over, about 30 times, I think :)  My mom got her this stuffed lamb for her first Christmas, and she's latched onto it like glue. Takes it everywhere, even to the grocery store and of course sleeps with it every night. I thought it deserved a layout of it's own.

For the title I used my beloved American Crafts lullaby thickers. The tag is also by AC, as well as the cloud patterned paper.

More butterflies....of course...the button is by American Crafts.

Used my Martha Stewart edge punch, as well as some October Afternoon ledger paper and a Maya Road star pin. The button is vintage that I found at a thrift shop.

 Thanks for taking a look....I'm off to enjoy the rest of my three day weekend. Yippee!

{at 20 months}

You got your first haircut! I thought you were going to do fine...until the cape came out or the comb hit your hair...not sure which. Either way you sat through the rest on my lap.  Not much to cut off but now you have cute little bangs!

You are very into saying whose things are whose. "that's mommy's" or "that's daddy's" is heard a lot around here. So is "it's mine". :)

You are learning how to sing more and more. Recently you're in love with listening to Old McDonald Had a Farm in the car....over and over and over. You also like hearing the ABC song and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

You can identify all your numbers 1-10 and most of the alphabet. You can count to two...sometimes three, but get stuck after that :)

You are not *too* much of a picky eater, although you're pretty leery of trying new foods. I can usually get you to try at least anything. You still love pasta and chicken nuggets, and you've been eating yogurt or PB&J for a bedtime snack.

The amount of information you retain blows my mind. Sometimes you'll ask "what's that?" only once and then remember it later on.

You are so cheerful when you get up in the mornings...even when I have to wake you up early to go to Grandma's house.

You love to talk on the phone...either a toy phone or our real cell phones. You will often bring me my phone and say "Tissen? Tissen?" That means you want to call Kristen. So I let you and you usually end up hanging up on her on accident.

You still love reading books and doing puzzles together.

You give the best hugs with your little arms...and the best sloppy kisses too. :)

{a home is made from love and dreams}

My sister and her boyfriend just bought their first house! I decided to make her a housewarming gift....with my scrapping supplies.... ;)

I pulled out my folder of The Girls Paperie papers to use; I like the color palette a lot. This is just a square of patterned paper punched with the Stampin' Up full heart punch. I backed it with some more patterned paper, added a roof, chimney and some stitching.

Funny, the house is actually brick. :) I got to use my new Martha Stewart fringe scissors for the grass as well.

Put it in a 5x7 frame without the glass. That way the texture and dimension is evident.

This is a layout I did last week with a bunch of scraps on my desk.

One of my new Thickers alphas...

Not sure why, but I've been a little punch happy lately.

Just a few random pics I had of Keira running around the house being silly.

If you haven't already....take a few minutes to check out the new items at Elle's Studio....I've been working with them this weekend in preparation for the inspiration gallery reveal later this month and everything is just awesome! I'm loving the 8x8 papers too. :)

Have a great weekend, I'm off to cook for family today -- it's my husband's 30th birthday! Whew. We're getting old. :) Hehe.
