{featured...}

I was pretty much stunned to see my card today as the 'featured project' at TwoPeas. I seriously had to refresh my screen 3 times before I believed that it wasn't a mistake. lol! Anyway, very cool and I am honored!

I have a few pages to share with you tonight, using Lily Bee's 'Hello Sunshine' line. Such a bright and fun palette.

I think my new favorite toy is the Tim Holtz rosette die for my Big Shot.....custom rosettes out of any paper, and they are fun to make too! I finished off the centers with some vintage buttons.

When we took Keira to the children's museum, she got to ride on some of the cars at the mall, and she thought that was pretty fun :)

For the title, I used a Stampin' Up big shot die for the tag, adding some computer journaling and new Thickers.

I love the way this next page came together...the colors of the papers and photo pair perfectly together.

I love doing journaling on the computer because it seems I can write a lot more in a smaller space and get the whole story on the page.

And here again are the butterflies! Hehe. Along with one of my trusty Elle's Studio tags.

This photo is far from perfect, but I love it just the same. A real life moment captured on film.

Thanks for stopping by tonight, I'll be working on some more projects this week....just waiting for the weekend once again :)

And before I forget, Pencil lines now has a Facebook page. So stop on over and become a fan, they are giving away another book once they hit 1000 fans!

{recharged}

Adam and I took a trip - just the two of us - to Chicago this weekend. It was glorious. No Dora, Sesame Street, fruit snacks or snot rockets in sight....just wine and valets and dinner and relaxing and walking together. Aaah.

Have you had this pizza? Seriously. It is the nirvana of all pizza experiences. The crust is like a savory, flaky pie crust....there is so much cheese. Holy heavens, it was fabulous.

We went to the Museum of Science and Industry.

Got to tour a real submarine from WW2.

Adam was seriously in his element.

Me? Well...it was interesting. I took a lot of pictures....ha.

I can't wait to go back.

Tomorrow I'll share a few layouts with you....good night :)

{more elle's projects!}

Tonight I'm going to share my remaining two March gallery projects with you....on this page I had fun using the large journaling tags....these babies are 4"x6"! Very cool.

I stitched butterflies down the centers and cut them into squares....rounding the corners. Also here is a little date and place strip.

This little piece of tag is the remainder that I cut off one of the others...can't let it go to waste!

I really love these pictures of Keira at the children's museum, she had such a fun time playing with the baby dolls ;)

For my last project, I embellished a little kraft sack to slip a card into. I like to give cards this way if I'm hand delivering them and they're a little bulky. To make this, simply fold a small doily over your closed sack and punch a few holes. Tie with twine, attaching your tag. Here I've used a large circle tag and birthday pennant. Easy!

For the card, I used another birthday pennant, journaling card, and a doily. The patterned paper is by Crate Paper.

I think I'll send this card to someone special on their special day..maybe to a family member with some pictures of Keira tucked inside :) Have to send it in a padded envelope but I don't mind.

This will be it for me for the next 4 or 5 days, Adam and I are headed to Chicago for a weekend getaway...just the two of us. Looking forward to a few days of relaxation and some time together! If you have any restaurant tips for Chi-town or ideas on what we should do, feel free to leave a comment. I'll have internet access while I'm gone. Have a great weekend ;)

{march elle's studio layout}

Have you checked out the March inspiration gallery at Elle's Studio? Go, run! It's fabulous, the ladies did a great job!

Tonight I'll share one of my layouts with you...my favorite one ;)

On the bottom of my layout, I layered some of the Handmade Layers journaling tags - punched through and stitched.

I used one of the large journaling tags for my title, along with some Crate Paper letter stickers.

I just love the colors in the new Handmade Layers line...perfect for scrapping my little girly-girl!

Heading to bed early tonight to catch up on some zzz's, will share the rest of my projects tomorrow. Have a great night.

{sunshine}

I decided to play along with the March sketch at Ally Scraps....trying to get my sketch mojo up and running for my term at Pencillines...hee :-D

I do love working with sketches. I find it takes a little of the guesswork out of my scrapping process...all I have to do is pick out my photos and papers and most of the design part is done for me!

I also got the chance to use one of my new KI puffies....too cute. I will be hoarding them for sure. You can download the font I used for free here.

On this page about a visit to the pool, I got the chance to use some of my new papers...Cosmo Cricket Salt Air, American Crafts and the new Echo park Playground line.

Can't wait til the weather gets warm enough to head back to the pool. Keira will love it even more this year, I'm sure!

Tonight I'm working on a little tutorial/project for an upcoming guest artist spot...Easter themed. I think I'll eat some Peeps to put me in the mood. Tomorrow is Adam's first golf outing of the season and Keira and I will be taking a trip to the park...provided it doesn't rain on us!

Happy weekend to you and yours.

{a few cards on this fine evening}

Today it was 70 degrees. 70. In March. In Iowa. That is much too hot for me this time of year! ;) I love cooler weather, so although I am glad to see the onset of spring, I am not looking forward to summer for sure. Except taking Keira swimming; that's always fun :D

I thought I would share a few cards with you tonight that didn't make the cut for this Paper Crafts call. There's always next time!

This first one was based on one of the provided sketches. I used Crate's new lines, Portrait and Emma's Shoppe, as well as a Stampin' Up stamp and twine.

I made this card for the Halloween section of the call....it's based off an invitation I did last year for a Halloween party we had. I used The Girl's Paperie patterned paper as well as some Glimmer Mist.

This was my favorite of the three cards I submitted, I thought it would get picked for sure! :) I used mostly Crate Paper here as well, and a Stampin' Up stamp plus some machine stitching.

Today I had some time to kill before I headed home from work, so what's a girl to do? Hit up the scrapbook store of course... :)

I saw the new Echo Park Playground line...started grabbing papers off the shelf then realized I should just get the whole darn pack...hehe. I love the colors, they are so bright and fun ;) I also picked up some of the new Pebbles felt clouds.....and of course some Thickers. If I would have had my way I would have got all 15 or 20 new packs they had...but I needed to restrain myself! ;) We're going on a little vacation next week so had better save some $ for that as well.

Picked up new Cosmo Cricket, Little Yellow Bicycle, We R Memory Keepers, Graphic 45, American Crafts and KaiserCraft paper.

Isn't this sheet of vintage images from Crafty Secrets so cute! I know it's not new but I just had to have it. So many cute critters to use on cards and layouts.

That's all for me tonight, my little one is ready to read some stories, rock a little and head to bed.

My favorite time of day :):):)

{another fun announcement}

I am so excited to be a part of the 2011-2012 Pencil Lines design team! There is a lot of great talent here and I am honored that Anna selected me to be a part of the team. If you don't know, Pencil Lines is an inspiration blog and a new sketch is posted every week. You can play along with the sketches and submit your layouts for a chance to win prizes.

I feel so blessed to be able to share my creations - along with this, Elle's Studio and GCD - let's just say that never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be here doing this! I will be one busy little bee :)

Hope you are having a great week - it seems like I have been a bit scatterbrained lately, not keeping up with my menu plan, for one! I'm looking forward to a weekend of relaxation - no big plans. Adam is going out Sunday for his first round of golf of the season, so you know what that means....scrapping time for me! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

{excited...}

...to be part of the 2011 GCD Studios design team! I got 'the call' from Heidi last Friday and have had to pinch myself ever since :) Check out the blog to see who else made it. I can't wait to get started!

I may just have another exciting announcement tomorrow...we'll see! :)

{valentine cookies}

Keira had such a fun time making sugar cookies with me and my sister before Valentine's day. I'm glad she's old enough to {sort of} help :)
I used a Little Yellow Bicycle heart shaped doily, layered on some pink cardstock and stitched around the edge for my title.
What a cutie :) You can see another of my Elle's Studio handmade layers tags at the bottom corner.

Have a great Monday! Lots of new things coming up for me, can't share quite yet - but soon!

Oh and check out the Crate blog, I won this month's challenge, woot! So many great projects, you have to take a look :)

{first dance}

As afrorementioned.....I had to have Crate's newest line, Portrait. It's definitely very versatile and doesn't need to be used for just wedding photos....but I took the opportunity to scrap a photo of Adam and I's first dance. We don't have a lot of good photos from our reception, the photographer was only there for a short time and the lighting was pretty poor :) But one good photo is better than none!

I stitched some ribbon along the bottom of the layout, all Stampin' Up.

This layout is for the March Crate Color Challenge, the colors to use were yellow, kraft and charcoal. What a great palette to work with! It also just so happens that I used Sketch 227 at Pencillines for my layout as well :)

I tucked a little Elle's Studio date tag under the main photo, then used a cluster of embellishments, both from the Portrait and Emma's Shoppe line.

Am I the only one that loves that song by Train?? hehe ;)

I'm happy with the way this page turned out....lovely papers and embellishments to work with sure doesn't hurt either! :)
