{sketch 257}

This week at Pencil Lines, you can check out the sketch derived from my layout and everyone's take on it! All the ladies did a fantastic job as usual :)

I got a chance to make this page with some of the new Crate Paper lines and I love every bit of them.

That floral paper right there? My fave :)

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you had a happy Halloween...

we did! :)

{happy halloween!}

Happy Halloween! I wanted to share a quick card I made this month with Pretty Little Studio's Scaredy Cat collection. I used my square punch to punch out bits of patterned paper, then adhered them and zig-zag stitched over the edges.

Add a few tags and you're done!

Hope you have a great day - we're off to trick-or-treat tonight with a special My Little Pony....oh boy!

{i will}

I'm way behind on posting layouts! I did a ton at the beginning of the month on our bi-annual scrapping weekend :) Here's one of them. I used a hodge-podge of new Studio Calico, Sassafras and American Crafts.

I think the SC chipboard butterflies are my new favorite staple...along with the Basic Grey glazed brads in just about every color :)

I love the mixy-matchy look of all the different products together.

I've been back in my scraproom this weekend and I'm slowly getting back into the groove! After going on vacation for our anniversary, then having to go back out to Vegas (again) for work, I'm ready to be home for a few weeks.....and scrap. ;)

However in two weeks we'll be heading to Chicago with Keira. Spending 2 days there to see Shedd's Aquarium, then flying to Denver for a few days. It'll be her first trip on an airplane so I'm trying to talk about it all excitedly so she doesn't get scared! Haha :)

We also visited the pumpkin patch for the first time last weekend. We had a lot of fun! Keira liked riding on the hayrack and playing on the toys they had there.

Hope you have a great week ;)

{what do we do?}

Do you follow Stephanie Howell's blog? If not, you should. She is an amazing scrapbooker and mom and has been posting a challenge once a month to blog your heart. This has been on my mind lately.

Do we have another child? I guess the answer is probably yes at first glance. But when it comes down to it? Can I do it? Can we do it? Can I go through this again?

Those of you that know me personally know that I battled postpartum depression for many months after Keira was born. She was not well. She was sick and in the NICU on oxygen for 3 weeks. Do you know what that does to you as a mother? You feel like you failed. You did everything right that you possibly could and still your baby is ill. You drive home from the hospital every night with an empty car seat in the back of your car and come home to an empty nursery with an empty crib.

You lay in bed at night staring at pictures on your cell phone of your baby. Your baby that is 50 miles away being taken care of by people you don't even know. You cry. and cry and cry and cry until there is nothing left. You wake up in the middle of the night thinking that maybe someone has stolen her out of the hospital. You call the nurses to make sure she is ok. They think you are probably nuts.

And they are probably right. Because every time you walk through those locked doors of the ward, you leave a piece of your heart and soul behind. And you can't wait.....can't wait. To take her home. Because then, everything will be fine! Your life will be wonderful with you and your husband and your new baby.

Then you FINALLY get to bring her home. Except life is different. It is not the same and you want your old life back. The one where you can sleep all night without being woken up every 3 hours. The one where you could do as you pleased, watch marathons of Family Guy for 8 hours straight on a Saturday without a care in the world.

The part of you that can see how blessed and lucky you are to finally have a healthy happy baby? That is broken. You can't even go out in public for fear that your baby will start crying and you won't know what to do. You say time and time again.....I am never going through this again. Never!!

But then you get help. You get treatment and therapy and support from your husband. Your baby starts sleeping through the night. She starts laughing and talking and walking. And you think maybe.....just maybe? Nope. Not yet.

Then she turns two. Another baby? Hell to the no.

And then sometime around the time she's about to turn 2 1/2 you are entertaining the idea of having another one.......really?

I feel like I'm jumping headfirst into a pool and I don't know how to swim. Help me people.

{little cheerleader}

Hey guys! I have another Halloween layout to share with you tonight that I made for The Scrapbooking Studio. This one uses the new We R Memory Keepers Spookville line. It's really cute!

I also used some of the kraft Maya Road journaling tags, and an American Crafts rosette.

Complete with a Cricut-cut bat :)

I am really loving the purple in the Halloween lines this year.

And here's a sneak of one of my Christmas layouts I have done for next month ;)

Thanks for stopping by! Heading to Vegas for work this week so I'll be out for a while. Have a good one.

{boo}

I have a few Pretty Little Studio projects to share with you today! Have you checked out the Scaredy Cat collection yet? It's a must have (I think:) for this Halloween! The colors are great.

This was a quick card I did with just some strips of patterned paper, a tag, some punched stars and Thickers! Easy peasy.

I still have lots of pictures left to scrap from our Halloween party last year, so that's good for me ;)

I like how that witch matched my costume perfectly!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week.

{a few cards}

We have a few birthday traditions in my family. My birthday and my stepdad's birthday are only about a week apart - same with my mom and sister. So we usually have two birthday celebrations, about a month apart! This weekend we celebrated my mom & sister. Keira somehow thought it was her birthday too and was more excited to help open the presents than anyone! :)

This was the birthday card I made my mom, using Pink Paislee's Nantucket line.

And I used AC's Garden Cafe to make my sister's card.

Even Keira got in on the card-making action....

Priceless, I tell you :)

At least I know I'm going to have a little scrapping buddy! My Little Pony stickers and all. Geesh I just love her to pieces :)

Have a great week. I'll be back later next week - going on a scrapbooking retreat for 4 days and 3 nights starting Thursday. Yippee! :)

{hi}

It's time for another sketch at Pencil Lines :)

I thought of making a layout, but this just screamed 'card' to me!

I used Pink Paislee's 'Nantucket' collection for this one. Loving this line!

Thanks for stopping by :)

{family}

Hi there! Jennifer here, and today I'm going to show you how to make a quick altered piece to decorate your home this fall. We're going to start by "quilting" a background of paper to put in a frame.

You can pick up a cheap frame, or maybe you have one lying around the house to use. You could even change it up with a little paint if you want. Remove the glass as we won't be needing it.

Use a square punch to punch out various pieces of patterned paper. I tried to stick with a fall theme.

Trim a piece of neutral colored cardstock ( I used kraft ) to the size that will fit in your frame. Adhere the squares on in any pattern you'd like. Tip: It's easier to put your adhesive on the cardstock and stick the squares on, rather than try to put adhesive on each tiny square :)

Use your sewing machine to zig-zag stitch over the seams.

Here's what your finished base will look like.

Use letter stickers to add the quote of your choice.

There you have it! A fairly quick project to enjoy in your home or give as a gift. Thanks for stopping by today! Have a good one :)
